Unleash Thanksgiving
By: Jennie Allen
It is that time of year again where we take inventory of our lives, gather with loved ones, and remember to give thanks in everything. That is at least what we hope for.
The reality too often is that we cannot find a reason for giving thanks because we…
- get consumed with our to-do list, our shopping list, and our Pinterest-inspired table decor
- feel anxious over expectations of being the perfect hostess, daughter, or mother
- are grieving loss or struggling to find one thing to thank God for
- are unsatisfied and our lives don’t look like what we had hoped
What IF this Thanksgiving… we are a generation of women who believe God at His Word, which says in Isaiah 58:10:
If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.
Let us be lights that rise out of darkness because we care for the poor, the orphan, and the widow more than we care about ourselves. And through the unleashing of our abundance on those who do not have it, I believe that gratitude and joy will rise inside of us as the noonday.
Introducing an IF:Unleash Challenge
Hear Anandi’s story and how together we can each do one small thing to impact the stories of 5,000 women in West India:
HOPE International is a non-profit organization that is doing incredible work to empower men, women, and families to break the cycles of physical and spiritual poverty through discipleship, biblically based business training, savings services, and small loans.
We love HOPE’s approach to poverty alleviation, and I believe in what they are doing. I have had the privilege of spending time with HOPE’s president, Peter Greer, and his wife Laurel. Fun fact: they adopted their son from Rwanda from the same orphanage that my son Cooper is from!
Over these next two weeks, we invite you to partner with HOPE to impact the lives of almost 5,000 women like Anandi in West India, a part of the world where…
- 1 out of 3 people live in extreme poverty
- less than 1% of the population claims to know Jesus
This is one of those few times where we dream of coming together as a group of women to make a one-time impact that we believe will greatly change a community for generations to come.
Will you join us?
In faith,
